Miss Erica is originally from Greenwood, SC, where she began dance at 8 years old. She was the founder and captain of her high school dance team for four years, and also cheered for her high school cheerleading squad for four years. She spent one year on staff, travelling and teaching with US Cheer, which was a division of CCA, Carolina Cheer Association. She graduated from Columbia College where she received her Bachelors in Dance, focusing in Ballet and Modern technique, with an emphasis in education. Columbia College sparked a true interest in world dance for Miss Erica, where she explored Tai Chi, Balinese dance, and West African culture and rituals. She spent one semester interning in Maryland at The National Dance Education Organization, promoting quality discipline based dance education in the public schools. Upon moving to Charleston in 2002, she taught creative movement at Creative Spark Center for the Arts for several years. Along beside Mrs. Kristine Wilcox,
Erica also was the co-director of the CDC, The Charleston Dance Company, a youth contemporary dance company. Erica has now been an instructor with Trudy's for 14 years, where she has taught jazz, tap, lyrical, and ballet to all ages. In her spare time, she enjoys going to the beach with her daughter, yoga, the occasional aerial yoga class, Tango, and most recently, experimenting with Flamenco dance.
