LINDA OLTMANN WALKER
Linda Oltmann Walker, also Trudy’s daughter, is the other co-owner and instructor at Trudy’s. She has been dancing since the age of three and she teaches ballet, jazz, tap, lyrical, and shag. She is also trained in Hawaiian and Tahitian dancing. She has been attending professional dance conventions since age 12, and has studied under many professional choreographers. These include Gus Giordano (the “Jazz Master”), Frank Hatchett (faculty member at Broadway Dance Center in NYC), Gene Medler (creator and director of the NC Youth Tap Ensembte), and locally under Robert Ivey. Linda also choreographs for Sheri Grace Wenger, director of Sheri Grace Productions.
Many of her productions have been presented in Piccolo Spoleto, the famous yearly arts festival in Charleston. Linda was also choreographer with “The Villagers”, a 1966 televised rock and roll show, which has been the subject of the musical production entitled “Summer of ‘66”, which played in Myrtle Beach, S. C. for two years...the “Linda” in that production is our own Linda!
Linda grew up Shaggin' on the Folly Pier in Charleston, as well as O.D. (Ocean Drive) in North Myrtle Beach, SC (Capital of Shag Dancing). She won the Masters Division in the National Finals in 2008, 1st place Female Dancer in the 19th Annual Bunk Leach Memorial Mixed Doubles in July 2011, was inducted into the Shagger's Hall of Fame and will now be inducted into the National Legends of Dance in November 2011!
Linda now teaches all levels of Shag, from beginner to competitive, for individuals and groups. She teaches many master classes for various private functions and special events throughout SC.
